In the mining industry, UHMW is used as a sliding surface for chutes and hoppers, taking advantage of its excellent wear and chemical resistance. A new generation of self-unloading ore carriers, rail wagons and large trucks may use UHMWPE due to its smooth surface, non-stick properties and abrasion resistance. These properties make it also useful for agricultural and earth-moving machinery, protecting steel with UHMW material.


The combination of chemical resistance and surface smoothness can relate to many applications. UHMW-PE is used in the food processing industry as a surface material for plates such as meat cutting, where a non-porous surface is required. Processed food and pharmaceutical conveyors use UHMWPE for contact surfaces and rollers, which are self-lubricating, resistant to boiling water and chemical cleaning agents. LDPE (High Pressure Low Density Polyethylene) is softer, has lower mechanical strength and lower melting point, and is suitable for making films and cable insulation. In order to prolong the service life and make the operation smooth, the bottling and filling production line often adopts the synchronous screw feeder and toothed belt made of UHMWPE.

(8) Tensile strength: Since UHMWPE has the necessary structural characteristics towards the tensile orientation, the product has unmatched ultra-high tensile strength, so ultra-high elastic modulus and strength can be obtained by gel spinning method. The fiber has a tensile strength of up to 3-3.5GPa and a tensile modulus of elasticity of up to 100-125GPa; chemically resistant ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is resistant to strong chemical corrosion, except for some strong acids at high temperatures. In addition to slight corrosion, it is not corroded in other lye and acid solutions. It can be used in hydrochloric acid with a temperature of less than 80 degrees, and has stable performance in sulfuric acid with a concentration of less than 75% and acid with a concentration of less than 20%. The specific fiber strength is extremely high among all the fibers that have been commercialized so far, 4 times larger than carbon fiber, 10 times larger than steel wire, and 50% larger than aramid fiber.


(9) Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) has good aging resistance, longer service time and cost saving.


(10) By adding flame retardant, the product has flame retardancy (it can be quickly extinguished within 3-10 seconds after leaving the fire source, without dripping, and no harmful gas is generated).


(11) Good anti-adhesion ability and easy to clean.


Lead-boron polyethylene sheet has high-performance products such as anti-neutron radiation and anti-nuclear radiation. It is made by adding boron powder and lead powder to ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, and processing technology such as stirring, plasticizing, and kneading.
